A teenager climbed a mango tree to save his life as flood water was rising  in several sitios in Vitali last Wednesday night.

John-John Alberto, 16, reportedly went up the mango tree after observing the entire Sitio Tamion was under water.

Jung-Jung Abella, a businessman and some helpful residents aided each other and successfully saved the teenager.

Councilor Mike Alavar III who personally went to Vitali said that aside from Sitio Tamion, other sitios like Mialim, Tinsalo, Calle Posporo, Bataan, Tigbao, Vitali Central School, National High School, the Our Lady of Pilar Church, rice fields and fishfonds and Barangay Mangusu were affected by flood which went up to five feet deep.

The flooding was triggered by continuous rain pour in the eastern part of the city since Wednesday afternoon.
