Investigators of the Bureau of Fire and Protection under City Fire Marshall Supt. Diominador Zabala Jr were looking into the cause of the fire that took place in one of the container vans that were being loaded to a vessel yesterday morning.

Zabala said the incident was reported to their office around 9:45 a.m. and fire trucks were immediately dispatched in the area. In less than half hour, the fire was placed under control.

Initial investigation showed that several container vans were being loaded to a vessel bound for Manila and suddenly port laborers noticed thick smoke coming from the last container van.

Immediately they placed it back to the port ground and called the fire station.

It was learned that the container van contained a motorcycle and several other cargoes that were damaged.

Fire investigators said the estimated damage is P20,000. – Dan Toribio Jr.
