Land Transportation Office-9 Director Aminola P. Abaton announced yesterday that the implementation of the new plate number for motorvehicles was tentatively set on February or March 2014.

Abaton attended the Regional Directors Conference which was presided by the new LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Alfonso V. Tan Jr., at the LTO central office last November 25-26

Abaton disclosed that Assec. Tan has directed all LTO regional directors to fully implement R. A 10856 otherwise known as the  Anti-Drunk Law.

Tan wants motorvehicle drivers to drive safely and responsibly so as to preserve their lives and protect the lives of other people.

Tan also directed all directors to continue their delivery of  fast quality time management and  efficient service to LTO clients.

According to Abaton, the new leadership under Assec. Tan wants the Drivers Renewal Center decongested from the Metropolis.

Abaton pioneered the putting up of a Drivers Licence Renewal Center at Yubengco Mall in Putik in 2008 and E-Patrol at LB marketing in Tumaga for the convenience and satisfaction of  LTO 9 clients.

Abaton revealed that the new LTO chief also plans to change the old system of registration for motorvehicles and its renewal. Under the plan, registration of new motorvehicles will be registered in the LTO regional office and the renewal of motorvehicles will be done in district offices.

Under the old system, registration of new motorvehicles and renewal of registration are all done in LTO district offices. —  Allen Abastillas
