A 13-year-old boy was shot and wounded by a security guard in a subdivision at Cabato Road, Tetuan last Thursday night.

The victim was identified as Mark Ferrer y Gonzales. He was shot by Rolando Rominde, 31, a security guard detailed at the subdivision.

A police report disclosed that Rominde was on roving patrol in the subdivision around 11:30 p.m. when he spotted a man trying to get out of the compound passing through a small hole on the concrete fence. Rominde drew his .38 cal. revolver and shot the man.
When the man fell on the ground with a bullet wound in the buttock, Rominde found out he was a minor.

Ferrer was rushed to the Western Mindanao Medical Center and was later transferred to the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

Rominde was arrested and detained at the Tetuan Police Station pending the filing of charges against him in court. — Dan Toribio Jr.
