2 gunmen in ex-Tungawan mayor’s fatal ambush known PDF Print E-mail

Police have identified the two gunmen who ambushed and killed the former mayor of Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay in Guiwan, this city last November 14.

Investigators however withheld the identities of the killers so as not to jeopardize ongoing investigation.

It was learned that the killers are members of a gun-for-hire group based in Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The two gunmen were among four persons riding on two motorcycles when they staged the ambush near the San Bernardino Bridge that killed Arsenio Climaco and wounded his wife Helen andgrandson Shelimar.

Men of the Tetuan police station under Chief Insp. Elmer Acuña were still gathering sworn statements from witnesses for the filing of charges against the suspects.

Climaco along with his wife Helen and three grandchildren were aboard a Pajero on their way to Cabaluay from the city proper when two motorcycles with four men aboard chased them and one of them opened fire on the former mayor near the San Bernardino Bridge,

The gunmen then sped towards the east coast after the ambush.

Climaco expired while undergoing treatment at a hospital, while Helen and Shelimar sustained bullet wounds in their body and were confined for treatment.

Shelimar’s two older sisters escaped unhurt in the gun attack. – Dan Toribio Jr.
