An Italian national lost his wallet to a pickpocket while he was walking downtown yesterday.
Giuseppe Sabellim, 50, and his Filipina wife appeared at the central police station and reported that his wallet containing P300, ATM and credit cards and other valuables were discovered missing while they were about to enter the Southway Square Mall.

Sabellim said while they were walking along the street, he did not notice anybody picked his wallet from his sling bag.

He said only while they were about to step into the mall that he found out his sling bag was already opened and was surprised to see his wallet gone.

Sabellim’s wife who requested anonymity said the pickpocket struck when they were busy having conversation while walking.

The Italian expressed disgust over the incident and said that he had gone to many places in other parts of the world but it was only here he became a victim of pickpocket.

Acting on the complaint, investigators conducted a follow-up operation that would lead to the arrest of the pickpocket . — Dan Toribio Jr.
