The National Electrification Administration (NEA) has confirmed the appointment of former Industrial Group of Zamboanga President Engr. George G. Ledesma as General Manager of the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Zamcelco).

This after the Zamcelco Board headed by its President Omar Sahi unanimously approved Resolution No. 192, s. 2013, “appointing Engr. George G. Ledesma to be the Probationary General Manager of Zamcelco considering that the latter successfully qualified and passed in the Selection process set by NEA, subject to NEA’s Policy for Hiring of EC’s General manager.”

A letter dated November 14, 2013, duly signed by NEA Administrator Edita S. Bueno with Ref. No. 13-01493 which was received by the coop early this week, states “that this iffice confirms the appointment of Engr. George G. Ledesma as General manager of Zamcelco on a performance Management Contract (PMC) basis for one year effective November 28, 2013.”

Part of the letter says the newly-designated GM “shall accomplish the attached copy of PMC and submit with the required one-year work plan which will serve as the Board and NEA’s basis in the validation of his actual performance, within fifteen days upon receipt of the letter”.

In an interview, Engr. Ledesma emphasized the need to discuss with the coop employees and personnel themselves as he prepares for the coop’s work plan for a period of one-year as a basis which the Board will meet again and appoint him as permanent General Manager.

Part of the work plan includes the system loss and the cost of the damages brought about by the 23-day conflict during the Zamboanga siege.

“System loss is not all about me, it is about the employees and member-consumers whether they are paying on time and whether they know there are pilferages and jumpers. We have to work together as we are also working hand-in-hand with City Hall to build back better Zamboanga,” Engr. Ledesma said. — MLF
