District 2 Rep. Lilia Nuño has requested Department of Agriculture (DA) Proceso Alcala to allocate P22 million for the implementation of farm-to-market-road projects in this city.

Nuño said Friday the projects are aimed at boosting the agricultural production as well as hastening the transport of farm produce to the market.

Nuño said the P22 million she requested from Alcala is for the construction of 11 farm-to-market-roads which were identified by City Agriculturist Diosdado Palacat.

Palacat said the 11 farm-to-market-road projects, which cost P2 million each, is vital for the agriculture sector in this city’s east coast.

Nuno’s district covers 61 of the 98 barangays in east coast of this city.

The farm-to-market-road projects are the following: Sitio Gapuh, Barangay Talabaan; Calle Real extension, Barangay Mercedes; Barangay Tigbalabag; Sitio Imelda-Pangulayan, Barangay Tolosa; Sitio Dugan Hoa, Barangay Lunzuran; Sitio Sapa Pungkul, Barangay Tictapul; Barangay Lubigan; Barangay Sangali; Barangay Muti; Barangay Lubigan; and, Sitio Lower Tigbao-Stitio Talaga, Barangay Licomo.

Meanwhile, Nuño said she will meet with the barangay chairmen in her district to determine what projects need to source out funds for implementation.

Of the 61 barangays in her district, eight are island barangays wherein the residents depend on fishing as means of livelihood.
