LTO-9 to get patrol vehicles, firearmsfor law enforcers PDF Print E-mail

By 2014,  the Land Transportation Office-9 will have new patrol vehicles and its law enforcers with be properly armed for their safety and security against any threat on the job.

LTO-9 Director Aminola P. Abaton disclosed that the acquisition of the new vehicles is one of the projects of new LTO  Assistant Secretary  Alfonso V. Tan Jr.  for the year 2014. Each region will get new vehicles.

The project is intended to strengthen the capability of law enforcers in the implementation and enforcement of the Traffic Code and other related laws.

Abaton said that Assec. Tan’s other project is to arm and provide short firearms to law enforcers nationwide so that they will have weapons to defend themselves in case of threats from traffic violators.

He said the law enforcers can also use their short firearms as their protection, security and and safety if they are not on duty.

According to Abaton, Tan has already requested the Philippine National Police and LTO is waiting for the go signal to buy the firearms.

Abaton also said that  LTO Central Office will also acquire an equipment  to be used in the anti-smoke belching campaign. — Allen Abastillas
