Bucoy, who ran unchallenged, garnered 36 votes out of the 45 barangay chairmen of Isabela City who were present during the polls.

The Liga ng mga Barangay election was conducted simultaneously in Basilan Province and spearheaded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Under the law, the Liga ng mga Barangay president will sit as a member of the local legislative body  representing the barangay.

According to Bucoy, he will also look after the welfare of the youth because they are not anymore represented in the council since the national government abolished the Sangguniang Kabataan.

The new ABC president also promised to support the visions and programs of Mayor Cherry Santos Akbar to bring progress to the city.

Bucoy also thanked the police and military for their presence during the election that led to a peaceful conduct of the ABC polls in the city. — KS
