Police seized eight fighting cocks in an illegal cockfighting (tarian) raid in Lunzuran yesterday and assorted fish in another operation in Vitali Saturday.

The raiders in Lunzuran also arrested a bettor.

SPO4 James Hamsirani, team leader of the Anti-Vice Section, said they swooped down on Lunzuran before noon after receiving a  report about of an ongoing tarian.

Hamsirani said when they arrived at the barangay, they spotted a group of persons betting in the tarian. However the bettors and operators scampered in different directions after sensing the arrival of the lawmen.

Eight fighting cocks and two gaffs were seized.  One of the bettors was also held and brought to the city police office.

After proper booking, the cocks were culled as provided for in an ordinance.

Men of the Vitali Police Station under Sr. Insp. Joel Tuttuh confiscated assorted fish worth P30,000 from illegal and ambulant vendors during a police operation last Saturday.

A police report disclosed that policemen headed by Insp. Judito Tubaña together with Jose Carlo Rubio, a sanitary inspector and Rogelio Jay Domjingo of the City Treasurer’s Office conducted a surprise round up at the Vitali proper that resulted in the confiscation of several fish and other marine products being sold by illegal ambulant vendors.

Authorities had been receiving complaints from residents and motorists about the traffic situation and foul  odor in the area caused by some vendors.

The seized marine products were properly turned over to the City Treasurer’s Office after lodging a report at the Vitali Police Station.

Authorities said that they will continue doing the same operation to eradicate illegal ambulant vendors in the area to decongest the traffic thereat. – Dan Toribio Jr.
