11th Mascota de Zamboanga set tonight PDF Print E-mail

Zamboangueño designers will once again showcase their creations for the Mascota de Zamboanga design competition, to be held tonight, December 17, at the City Hall Lobby.

Now on its 11th year, the annual design competition cum fashion show will highlight the timelessness of the mascota, the formal gown worn by Zamboangue?as during the Spanish period, and at the same time, showcase the creativity and artistry of Zamboangue?o designers.

This year’s participating designers include Federico Navarro, Mandrake Servito, Gerry Carpio, Gari Luna, Vicky Go Tonggal, Raustin Siocon III, Kurth David Luyao, Husni Sali, Ernie Kwan, Justin Mejia, Al Shamer Abdul, Monching Fernandez, Joy Verar and Olivia Samson.

All designs will be judged based on craftsmanship (25%), design and concept (25%), fitting and presentation (25%), and stage bearing and impact (25%).

Up for grabs are major prizes of Php 50,000, Php 30,000 and Php 20,000, special awards, and other consolation prizes.

Originally featured as part of the Zamboanga Hermosa festival, this year’s Mascota is one of lined-up activities for the 2013 Pascua na Zamboanga festival, with the theme “Build Back Better Un Familia Zamboangue?o”.
