The City Treasurer’s Office has suspended effective December 1-31, the conduct of inspections in business establishments to forestall issues on illegal solicitations and other irregular activities during the yuletide season.

City Treasurer Soledad Li said business managers and owners should be wary of impostor-inspectors who may be doing the rounds of different establishments in the guise of mulcting businessmen.

The suspension in the conduct of permit inspections in December is done yearly.

Inspections will resume first week of January until the end of November next year, according to Li.

She urged the public to report to her office any irregular activities that may transpire relative to permits inspections.

An owner of a pawnshop downtown yesterday submitted to City Treasurer Li a photo printout of an impostor that the businessman recorded through the establishment’s closed circuit television (CCTV) facility.

Li clarified that the man on the photo is not from the City Treasurer’s Office, as she reiterated her warning against such impostors. -- Sheila Covarrubias
