Army units were closely watching on some 200 Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) fighters who were spotted at the vicinity of Sitio Tuway, Barangay Tugal, Midsayap town, Cotabato Monday morning.

Capt. Antonio Bulao, 602nd Infantry Brigade civil-military operation officer, said the group was spotted around 7:00 a.m.

Initial reports said the MNLF forces were headed by Commanders Noran Oto, Hasan and Dumo.

Bulao said that intelligence reports indicated that the group was allegedly after the relatives of Barangay Tugal chair Peng Kolilong who were allegedly involved in the killing of Kasanudin Guialal, the former barangay chairman of Barangay Bakat, Datu Piang town, Maguindanao.

He added that the 40th Infantry Battalion is now keeping watch of the situation.
