Mayor Beng Climaco sworn in yesterday the newly elected officers of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) or Liga ng mga Barangay with Putik Chairman Jerry Perez as president vice Abdurahman Nuño of Barangay Taluksangay.

With his election as ABC president, Perez will also take the place of Nuño as ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlungsod. He will receive the same privileges as the regular councilors do.

Other ABC officers are Rey Modillas, vice president, and Joselito Macrohon, auditor. The members of the Board of Directors are (in no particular order) Ronald Maravilla, Rogelio Miranda, Raphael Apolinario, Attang Mohammad Nu, Angelica Inot, Razdy Mukaram, Jose Alavar and Antonio Saavedra.

The oath-taking took place shortly after the winners of the ABC election were proclaimed by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zamboanga City Office headed by Moh. Taha Arakama, who also supervised the election.

Results of the election showed that Perez garnered 50 votes against Nuño’s 45. Three barangay chairmen failed to cast their votes. They were Jimmy Villaflores of Sta. Catalina and Gaudencio Rojas of Patalon, while Reynerio Galcing of Tolosa was reportedly sick. — Vic Larato
