A public elementary school teacher was snatched by gunmen in a fresh kidnapping in the city’s east coast around 3 p.m. yesterday.

A police report identified the abducted teacher as Cathy Casipong of the Sibogtok Elementary School in Barangay Limaong.

Casipong was reportedly on her way to Vitali aboard a motorized banca when fully armed men aboard two other motorized bancas appeared and dragged her to their seacraft.

Witnesses told the police that the kidnappers’ bancas with the hostage teacher aboard sailed towards the Eleven Island and possibly on the way to Basilan or Tungawan in Zamboanga Sibugay.

The same witnesses said that one of the two bancas was painted yellow and white stripe with “Sangali” written  on its hull.

The Limaong kidnapping came six months after a staff of the Western Mindanao State University’s Islamic Institutewas released by kidnappers Jolo, Sulu last July.

Alrashid Rojas, who was snatched in Campo Islam last June 22,  was dropped by his captors at the Jolo wharf He was picked up by authorities.

Rojas was held in captivity for almost two months by kidnappers with link to Talipao Abu Sayyaf Group of Idang Susukan who is believed to be the same captors of Zamboanga City kidnap victims Flordeliza Ongchua and Eddie Fabella whose kidnap cell still operates in the west coast of Zamboanga City.

Rojas was beaten by the kidnappers after he tried to resist before he was dragged into a pumpboat that sped westward. — Dan Toribio Jr.
