Mayor Ukol Talumpa of the nearby Labangan town, his wife Lea, and nephew, Saripudin, were buried Saturday morning in his hometown of Labangan, this province.

Moro Civil Society Organization head Ibrahim Balimbingan said the remains of the three arrived in this city around 6 a.m. aboard a C-130 cargo plane from Manila and were immediately transported to Labangan municipality.

Balimbingan is a third degree nephew of the slain mayor.

The Talumpas were buried at the family-owned property in Barangay Dalapang, Labangan town, according to Balimbingan.

The interment was attended by more than 1,000 relatives, friends and supporters.

They were killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen shortly after 10 a.m. Friday just outside the Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

An 18-month-old boy was also killed during the incident.

Balimbingan cited two possible motives of the incident — politics and family feud.

He refused to elaborate further.
