7 suspects in gunslaying of ex-Tungawan mayor charged PDF Print E-mail

Police have forwarded to the City Prosecutor Office murder and frustrated murder charges against seven persons of Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay including the vice mayor and some barangay officials, in connection with the gunslaying of former Mayor Arsenio Climaco and the wounding of his wife and grandson in an ambush in Tetuan highway near the San Bernardino bridge last November 14, this year.

A police report identified the suspects as Abduraup Abizon, vice mayor of Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay, Karim Jalana, barangay chairman in the same municipality, Salim Mamboay, barangay kagawad, Barah Mukadam, Salim Alip, Aruli Jalana and Mudam Mukadam, all at large.

The suspects’ identities cropped up during a relentless investigation conducted by men of the Tetuan Police Station led by its former head,   Chief Insp. Elmer Acuña.

Police have gathered evidences pointing to the seven as the perpetrators of the ambush staged around 11 a.m. last November 14.

Climaco was killed while his wife and grandson were wounded while two granddaughters escaped unhurt.

The suspects were aboard motorcycles when they opened fire on Climaco who was driving a Pajero with his family aboard while they were on their way to Cabaluay coming from city proper.

Police assured that the suspects will be arrested as soon as the court will issue warrants of arrest. – Dan ToribioJr.
