Abu leader resists arrest, shot dead PDF Print E-mail

An Abu Sayyaf Group sub-leader was shot and killed by government forces in a joint operation on Monday around 10 a.m. in Barangay Luwas, Parang,  Sulu.

Slain was Fraser Hajan alias Abu Jarrin Hajan

Law enforcers went to serve a warrant of arrest on Hajan but he resisted and engaged the lawmen in a gunbattle.     Hajan was wounded and brought to the Integrated Provincial Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Recovered at the scene of the gunbattle was one pistol.

According to the police,  Hajan was involved in a series of kidnappings in Sulu.

The government forces who went to serve the warrant were men of the Special Project MKI- OC Philippine National Police, 52 Special Action Group, Special Action Force, Philippine Center on Transnational Crimes,  2nd Marines Battalion Landing Team, Naval Intelligence Unit 61- NISG Western Mindanao, Sulu Police Provincial Office and POACC. — Allen Abastillas
