1 killed, 2 wounded in fresh shooting rampage in Zambo PDF Print E-mail

A community (purok) leader was killed, while two others were wounded in separate incidents as shooting rampage  continues in Zamboanga City city last Sunday night.

Gilbert Monsira, a purok leader in Calarian was shot and stabbed to death by Nonoy Dela Cruz and two companions identified as Suelo Bagyoso and Michael Aliria.

Dela Cruz was also shot and wounded by responding policemen.

Initial investigation disclosed that Dela Cruz, Bagyoso and Aliria were locked in a quarrel when Monsira arrived and tried to pacify them.

However, Dela Cruz drew a .45 caliber pistol and a knife and shot and stabbed him.

When policemen responded, Dela Cruz made an attempt to fire at them which prompted the lawmen to shoot him in the body to disable him.

Monsira and Dela Cruz were taken to the hospital for treatment but Monsira expired while undergoing treatment.

Bagyoso was arrested while Aliria eluded arrest.

Police forwarded to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory the .45 caliber pistol and the knife used in the crime for examination.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Samson, 26, a native of Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte and temporarily residing in Purok 7, Recodo was shot and wounded by a gunman at dawn last Sunday. He sustained slight bullet wounds in the right temple and left portion of the hip and was taken to the hospital.

Initial investigation disclosed that Samson was walking along a dimly lit road in Purok 6 when a gunman surfaced and shot him twice.

Despite the bullet wounds in the body, Samson managed to hide behind a bamboo fence of a house.

The following day, the house owner spotted Samson and reported him to the police for investigation.

Police said that Samson is known as a drug courier who has a pending warrant of arrest for drug case. – Dan Toribio Jr.
