An Italian national was intercepted in Zamboanga City on Thursday morning while about to board a commercial vessel bound for Taganak island inTawi- Tawi

Salvatore Orsini was intercepted by government forces in a joint Petron Bay’s wooden wharf in Baliwasan

The Italian national was caught by men of the Office of the Chief Philippine National Police-Special Project Mindanao Khilafa Islamiyah, Naval Intelligence Security Group Western Mindanao 61 and Philippine Center on Transnational Crimes Western Mindanao Field Office in coordination with the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission and Bureau of Immigration and Deportation.

According to  a BID official, Orsini was tagged as “undesirable alien” for many years.

On Thursday  afternoon, Orsini  was brought to Manila and was placed under the custody of BID.

When told that there are terrorists in the place he was heading for,the Italian said,  “I don’t care if there are Abu Sayyaf terrorists in the area.” — Allen Abastillas
