A host of government services was made available to approximately 300 Camino Nuevo residents who flocked to the Dia de Alcalde caravan Friday, December 27.

Despite the mid-morning heat, residents queued up for the various services made available for free through the Dia de Alcalde caravan, which was conducted in time for the barangay’s fiesta celebration.

The services provided included medical and dental consultations, the provision of free medicines, and free skills demonstrations on baking, manicure and pedicure, massage, and hair cutting, courtesy of the City Health Office and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) IX team, respectively.

Mayor Beng Climaco also dropped by to join the residents who were waiting their turn.

Held in tandem with a barangay’s fiesta celebration, the Dia de Alcalde seeks to bring frontline government services to where it is needed most. Initiated by Climaco, it is one of the ways where communities can avail of essential government services at the comfort of their own barangays.

Other barangays which have hosted the Dia de Alcalde include the barangays of Curuan, Tumaga, San Roque and Culianan. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
