In line with the program of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to prevent the occurrence of illegal discharge of firearms by irresponsible gun owners, the Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA) has issued a directive to all operators, managers and security officers of Police Security Agency (PSAs), Police Detective Agency (PDAs), Company Guard Forces (GSFs) and Government Security Units (GSUs) to conduct muzzle taping of all their firearms.

The said directive is in connection with the simultaneous implementation among provincial units to regional offices to make sure that the issued firearms of PNP personnel are not used other than in the performance of their sworn duties as law enforcers furthering to indiscriminately firing during the celebration of holiday seasons.

According to Police Chief Superintendent Tomas Rentoy III, all Private Security Agencies are required to submit report of compliance to the directive with pictorials not later than January 15, 2014 together with their monthly report for the month of December 2013, and any security agency and security personnel who failed to follow such directive will face appropriate charges or even dismissal from the service.

Muzzle taping of all FAs issued/deployed to all security guards is on December 30, 2013 and the unsealing shall be done on the 2nd day of January 2014.
