Zamboanga City Fire District (ZCFD) Fire Marshal, F/Supt. Dominador F. Zabala, Jr. on Friday directed all his station’s Fire Safety Enforcement personnel to strengthen the monitoring and enforcement of the rules and regulations on the selling, manufacturing, distribution and use of firecrackers, PVC pipe, “Boga” and other pyrotechnic devices in this city before and during the celebration of the New Year.

F/Supt. Zabala said the prohibition on the sale, distribution and uses of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices in this city during the celebration and  welcoming of the New Year is also in connection with their agency’s “Oplan: Paalala” despite the issuance of Executive Order No. BC-23-2013, signed on November 11, this year, by Mayor Maria Isabelle “Beng” G. Climaco as an “Order Temporarily Suspending the Display and Use of Firecrackers and other pyrotechnics for the Yuletide Season,” which temporarily suspends the sale, distribution, display and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnics devices in this city during the Yuletide Season, as a result of the September siege of Zamboanga City by MNLF forces loyal to Nur Misuari.

Zabala, added that all fire stations and sub-stations in this city were also ordered to be on red alert to receive fire calls or calls for any emergency assistance that may occur, God forbids, anytime during the Yuletide Season.
