Holduppers seem to be challenging the capability of the local police as they continue staging holdups victimizing ordinary people amid the tight security adopted in the city.

This developed as a vendor was mauled and robbed by four men along Veterans Avenue Extension in Tumaga at dawn the other day.

The victim was identified as Sonny Inggar y Yusop, 30, of Highway Park, Tumaga.

A police report disclosed that Inggar was driving a motorcycle heading for their residence in Tumaga around 3:30 a.m. when four men blocked his path and mauled him fronting a pharmacy

Inggar tried to fight back but he was knocked down by the attackers.

When Inggar fell on the ground, the attackers took his cell phone worth P7,000 and P5,000 in cash.

The holduppers escaped after the incident while the victim who sustained injuries in the body was rushed to the Zamboanga Doctor Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, robbers broke into a rented house being occupied by Fretzel Galib y Perez in Talon-Talon, Loop.

The intruders fled with a bag containing P18,000, pawnshop receipts, two Ummah beneficiary coupons owned by Fersida Galib and Galib Mansul, four cell phones worth P20,000 and a sling bag containing pawnshop receipts, P1,000, Avon ID, Pantawid ATM and several documents.

The intruders entered the house through the second main door of the rented house. – Dan Toribio Jr.
