5 killed, 11 hurt in Jolo explosion PDF Print E-mail

Five persons were killed and 11 others were wounded when a powerful bomb exploded in Jolo, Sulu last Thursday afternoon.

Western Mindanao Command spokesperson Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang disclosed that the explosion took place around 5:15 p.m. near Dennis Coffee Shop along Scott Road, Barangay San Raymundo, Jolo.

Three persons were killed on the spot, one of them was identified as Habir Sabri.
Wounded were Jenalyn Jaiber, 21, Abdullah Bairula, 20, Murin Akmad, 21, Muddasar Amuddin, 42, Nur-in Akmad, 21, Julpi Mohammad,Sukarno Jilka, 58, Annong Sabri, 40, a certain Marino, 42, Salma Gaspar, 42 and Muddasar Abuddin, 41. They sustained shrapnel wounds in the body and were taken to the hospital.

The explosion also destroyed a portion of the building and fence of Salih Ututalum Elementary school, three motorized tricycles and three motorcycles.

Cabangbang said police and military were investigating the incident.
