Gun violence continues and the latest victim is a store owner who was shot and killed by unidentified assailants in Putik last Monday night.

Police identified the fatality as Jonathan Lucot y Mendoza, married, of Pilarico Drive, Putik. He sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

A report from the Divisoria Police Station disclosed that Lucot had just come from his store along Lobregat highway in Putik  and was walking towards their residence in Pilarico Drive when  two men riding on a motorcycle chased him from behind and one of them shot him several times at a dimly lit spot.

Residents told the police that before they heard several gunfire, Lucot screamed in Visayan vernacular “Ayaw-ayaw” but he was shot. Later they discovered him lying on the ground bloodied.

Helpful residents rushed Lucot to the Western Mindanao Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival.    The gunmen sped away aboard a Honda  XRM motorcycle.

Recovered at the crime scene were three spent shells and four deformed slugs of .45 caliber pistol.

Investigators were looking on robbery as the motive of the killing after the bag containing daily earning of the store Lucot was carrying was discovered missing. – Dan Toribio Jr.
