Mark Conrad “Maco” R. Ravanzo from Zamboanga City is the recipient of the national award for the Youth Category of the Search for Outstanding Volunteer (SOV). He was awarded last December 13, 2013 at the Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila, Ortigas Center, Quezon City as a highlight of the National Volunteers’ Month.

Maco is currently working under the Education Unit of Metrobank Foundation, Inc. Aside from this, he is also the co-founder and leader of I am M.A.D. (Making A Difference), a network of young volunteers advocating to uplift the lives of Filipino children. With I am M.A.D., Maco was able to organize personalized values formation programs in 15 areas all over the Philippines, instilling in them the importance of education, love of country, love for parents and the hope to achieve their goals to become productive members of the society.

The Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV) is a recognition program that culminates a year-long nationwide search for exceptional volunteer individuals and groups. The event is conducted by the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) in cooperation with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Offices, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao - Regional Planning and Development Office (ARMM-RPDO), and the National Volunteer Month Steering Committee (NVM-SC). The Search is both a recognition platform and advocacy medium of the government to promote and sustain volunteerism as a strategy for community development and nation-building. Since 2001, the SOV has recognized 109 individuals and volunteer organizations, thus bringing to the fore many years of outstanding practices and inspiring stories that changed the lives of many people and communities.

Other awardees are Mrs. Margarita H. Coscolluela, the recipient of the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award (VLAA); Mr. Arvin O. Marabiles and Dr. Demetrio P. Anduyan, Jr., Ph.D., the national awardees for the Adult Category; awardees for the group category are, Volunteer Service Provider (VSP); The Kabalikat Civicom – 475 Marinduque Chapter and PLDT Employee Volunteers; Special citation was also conferred to Deutscher Entwicklungsdienst (DED) or the German Development Service.
