Two persons from Iloilo City who were victims  of human trafficking were rescued by the Sea Based Anti-Human  Trafficking Task Forces ( SBATF ) in coordination with the Philippine Center on TransNational Crimes and the Zamboanga City Police personnel last Monday.

Lorenzo said the names of the victims and their illegal         recruiter have been withheld because charges are still being prepared for filing in court, and making it public will jeopardized ongoing operations.

He also said the illegal recruiter belongs to a big syndicate recruiting persons in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao mostly in provinces.

Lorenzo revealed that the syndicate works with different people on the ground conspiring and conniving to commit crimes.

Lorenzo disclosed that last February, the Regional Trial Court Branch 14 convicted a human trafficker on labor case. The convict is lady person.

He called on the people especially those who want to work abroad to be wary against human
traffickers roaming around the region and other parts of the country and recruiting skilled workers to work in Lebanon.

He advised individuals not to be carried away by the sweet talks and promises of the illegal recruiters because there is travel advisory in Lebanon and in the Middle East. — Allen Abastillas
