3 soldiers wounded in Basilan clash PDF Print E-mail

Three Army Scout Rangers were wounded in a clash with Abu Sayyaf gunmen in Sumisip, Basilan last Thursday.

A police report said that men of the of Army’s 14th Scout Ranger Company led by 1Lt.  Futalan were on combat operation wjem they encountered some 30 Abu Sayyaf gunmen led by sub-leader Radzmer Tameng Janatul and Juhayver Alamsirul aka “Abu Kik” at Block 19, Barangay Benembengan, Sumisip at dawn Thursday.

A 30 minute-firefight broke out and lasted for 30 minutes after which the Abu Sayyaf gunmen withdrew toward unknown direction..
Wounded were Cpl. Ilagas, PFC Sucaldito and PFC Rapi.

The military believed the Abu Sayyaf also suffered casualties in the encounter.
