Policemen shot a man who ran amok and attacked a barangay tanod and militiamen with a bolo in Labason, Zamboanga del Norte the other day.

A police report disclosed that James Bagioso, 26, was shot while he was about to attack an army soldier, Staff Sergeant Edcil Salave, a member of the 2pth Special Forces Company; and militiaman Romel Francisco in Kipit village.

Bagioso first attacked Romeo Patayon, 49, who was pacifying him. Patayon was hacked in the head and rushed to the hospital. Bagioso then again challenged anyone to stop him until the soldier, along with militias and other tanod arrived and urged him to surrender his weapon peacefully.

But Bagioso attacked the group until he was shot in the legs and body. He was rushed to the hospital, but died along the way. — ME
