With the assistance of San Ramon Power, Inc. and the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco), two relocation sites have been energized, one partially, for the hundreds of displaced families that were affected in the September siege by well-armed armed members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

Phase I of the Tulungatung electrification program was done last December with the installation of a primary line and transformer dedicated exclusively for the barangay. The permanent installation of primary and distribution lines will be done as soon as the purchase requests, budget, canvassing and award processes are completed.

Sources said that a Memorandum of Agreement among the parties has been drafted by City Hall and awaits the signatures of the parties concerned, including a resolution of affirmation by the city council of Zamboanga.

On the resettlement site in Taluksangay, the area has been energized last December in coordination with SRPI and Zamcelco. The permanent installation of the primary and distribution lines has been done by SRPI and Zamcelco.

The MOA for the project has been signed by Zamcelco and Taluksangay Barangay Chairman Amman Nuno. The next step is for SRPI and Mayor Ma. Isabel Climaco-Salazar to sign the MOA.

SRPI said that as soon as the materials for the primary and distribution lines are acquired, the second phase of the Tulungatung resettlement area will immediately commence. — BJ
