An official of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has said that registered voters may inquire about their Voter Identification (ID) card through a social media site.

James Jimenez, Comelec spokesperson, advised the public to post queries and concerns to the twitter account, @COMELEC.

“Tweet your questions and concerns about claiming your voter ID to @COMELEC using #VoterIDKo,” he said in his Twitter account, @jabjimenez.

He said that a voter’s ID is government-issued and given full faith by commercial establishments, including banks.

Several queries from concerned voters on how and where to get their ID and what they need to bring for them to obtain the document have been posted since Saturday afternoon.

As of the barangay elections last October, the country has more than 54 million registered voters.
