The Commission on Elections has reported that there are more that four million unclaimed voter’s identification cards in Comelec offices nationwide.

In an interview, Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez said that 4.5 million voter’s IDs have not been claimed in the different local Comelec offices in the country.

The figure, he said, is based on the initial reports submitted to the poll body by local election officers.

On Saturday, the poll body opened a help line on social media, through the Twitter account @COMELEC, for queries on the IDs.

“For assistance in finding and claiming voter’s IDs, please tweet @COMELEC with #VoterIDKo,” Jimenez said in his Twitter account, @jabjimenez.

The public may also check the printing status of their IDs through the Comelec website www.comelec.gov.ph and its Precinct Finder and ID Printing Status Checker feature.

Jimenez said a voter’s ID is government-issued and given full faith by commercial establishments, including banks.
