Two persons are still missing while 11 others were slightly hurt after the military jeep they were riding overturned while crossing the Mahayag-Dumingag spillway in Barangay Lower Salug Daku, Zamboanga Del Sur Tuesday morning.

Capt. Jefferson Somera, 1st Infantry Division spokesman, said the incident took place around 7:30 a.m.

The military jeep was driven by one PO1 Nemesio Batingal Jr.

The jeepney was carrying sacks of fertilizer with three passengers identified as Cyrus Jade Batingal, 11, Jerson Bacus, 19, and his sister Juvy, 18. It was passing the above-mentioned locality, on its way to Barangay Mahayag, when flagged by 10 other persons who wanted to ride.

Somera said Batingcal obliged and crammed the 10 other people inside. However, as the vehicle was crossing the Mahayag-Dumingag spillway, strong currents overturned the military jeep, throwing all its passengers in the water.

Still missing as of this posting is Cyrus Jade and a still unidentified hitchhiker.

Search operations are still ongoing for the missing persons.
