A 70-year-old man was shot to death by his son-in-law in Barangay Cabaluay last Wednesday night.

Shot dead was Mauricio Barcelona y Dela Cruz, married, of Purok 3, Cabaluay. He sustained two bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.

Police said the gunman, Marvin Resurreccion y Barilla, 41,  was arrested after the incident.

Investigation disclosed that Resurreccion, Roy Sabado and some other companions were having a drinking session around 8 p.m. during which Barcelona engaged in a heated argument with Resurreccion’s brother  while they were a playing card. Afterwards, Resurreccion and Sabado went to the house of Barcelona to verify the incident.

It was learned that Sabado was the first to approach and talk to Barcelona, followed by Resurreccion who was armed with a 9mm pistol. The latter suddenly shot Barcelona twice in the body.

Police said the victim died on the pavement where he collapsed due to two bullet wounds in the body.

Resurreccion was arrested immediately by PO3 Salvador who responded to  the shooting. He was detained at the Culianan Police Station while the gun was turned over to an investigator for the filing of case against him. – Dan Toribio Jr.
