Another evacuee from Rio Honfo sheltering along RT Lim Lim Boulevard was arrested during a police operation last Thursday afternoon.

Alvin Yusop y Arajan, 22, single, was collared during a buy-bust operation around 1 p.m.

A police report disclosed that a police poseur buyer with operatives of the Central Police Station’s Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force proceeded to RT Lim Boulevard and staged a buy-bust operation after it was confirmed that Yusop was involved in shabu peddling.

When Yusop met with the police poseur buyer, he sold a sachet of shabu in exchange of P300 marked money.

After the transaction, a police team cornered Yusop.

Aside from the marked money, policemen recovered five other sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia from Yusop’s possession.

Yusop was detained at the central police station while the seized items were forwarded to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for examination.

Police have readied charges against Yusop for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165.

Last November 27, three female evacuees sheltering at the evacuation center in front of the Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Complex were arrested for selling shabu at noontime.

Arrested were Rahsa Bairula, 32, Analyn Among, 24, and Rolin Kasim, 28, all natives of Jolo, Sulu and temporary residents of Rio Hondo.

A certain Reynaldo Lee, 51, of Talisayan, was also brought to the city police office for questioning after he was seen acting suspicious during a police operation against the three women.

The suspects were nabbed by men of the Investigation Section led by Sr. Insp. Arlan Delumpines and operatives of the Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force led by Insp. Federico Lindo.

Police recovered during the operation several sachets of shabu with estimated market value of P20,000 and drug paraphernalia.

On December 11, Another evacuee was arrested for selling shabu at the evacuation center in JFE Memorial Sports Complex last Monday afternoon.

Nabbed was Aminkadra Abdula Samain, 41, single, of Sta. Catalina.

Samain was arrested by men of the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company under Supt. William Gadayan around 5 p.m.

Samain sold a sachet of shabu to a police poseur buyer for P200.

A police back-up team arrested Samain after he handed over to the poseur buyer the sachet of shabu and in exchange of P200 marked money.

During inspection, policemen recovered another sachet of shabu from the suspect’s possession.

In a related development, three evacuees staying at the Zamboanga City High School West campus along RT Lim Boulevard were arrested for stealing several computers and accesories from the school last January 8.

Arrested were Michael Lukman, of Sta. Catalina, Myrna Omar and Almudla Paharan, both residents of Mariki.

The three were arrested during a follow-up operation carried out by the police after the school’s  officials reported the robbery.

During investigation, the three admitted they took several computers and accessories and sold them to different persons and internet cafés.

Policemen accompanied the suspects to the individuals who bought the stolen computers and recovered some of them.

The recovered stolen computers and accessories were turned over to investigators while the suspects were detained for filing of charges against them in court.

In an interview, Lukman said there were other evacuees staying in the school who stole several valuables like computers and sold them outside the campus.

Aside from stealing valuables in the school, several other damages were discovered inside the campus. It was believed to have been perpetrated by some evacuees staying in the campus. – Dan Toribio Jr.
