Police here have launched a manhunt against suspects who executed three persons earlier identified by police as responsible in the rash of motorcycle theft in Cotabato City.

Supt. Rolen Balquin, city police director, identified the slain victims as Johaider Marunting, 36; Guiyanid Ali Adta, 58; and Kadir Ali Adta, 48; all residents of Barangay Simuay, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

The victims, Balquin said, were riding on a motorbike when gunmen ambushed them at the boundary of Barangay Tamontaka 1 and Tamontaka 2, outskirt villages of this city.

“We believed it was triggered by personal grudge because of the way the victims were waylaid,” Senior Inspector Carlo Polinario, Station No. 3 commander, said.

Polinario said five men riding on two motorbikes were seen tailing the suspects at about 8:00 a.m. when they went to Barangay Tamontaka.

The suspects took the victims’ valuables, including cellphones and motorbike.

Responding policemen rushed the victims to the hospital but all were declared dead on arrival.

Balquin said investigators are still gathering information on the identities of the suspects.

Earlier, police intelligence information showed the victims were linked to the rash of motorcycle theft and robbery in the city. LAM/NYP
