Residents of Lobregat Village in Calarian were jolted by a loud explosion last Saturday afternoon.

DZT gathered that five young boys were playing around 3:30 p.m. and one of them lighted several pieces of non-electric blasting caps that caused the loud blast.

Policemen were able to hold a 13-year-old boy who was allegedly responsible for the explosion. He was taken to the Sinunuc Police Station but was later released.

It was learned that the youngsters found 34 pieces of non-electric blasting caps inside Camp Enrile in Malagutay several months ago and kept it until  last Saturday while they were playing, the 13-year-old boy lighted it and exploded.

Bomb experts recovered 34 more commercial non-electric blasting caps at the blast site during a post blast investigation.

The explosion caused a crater on the ground, but no one was injured.

Police appealed to the public to report to the nearest police or military installation in case of recovery of any explosive in their neighborhood. — Dan Toribio Jr.
