In the latest Social Weather Station (SWS) Survey of Enterprises on Corruption conducted on July 31 to November 29, 2013, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) once again rated highly among government agencies surveyed in its sincerity in fighting corruption.

As in the 2012 survey, DTI was top in the list in net sincerity rating, next only to the Office of the President which consistently rated “excellent”.

At +58 net sincerity rating, DTI led among only four agencies which were rated “very good” by the respondents. These other agencies were the DOH, SSS and DSWD.

The survey was based on the results of the face-to-face interviews of 951 business executives in the National Capital Region (NCR), Metro Angeles, Cavite-Laguna-Batangas, Metro Iloilo, Metro Cebu, Metro Davao, and Cagayan de Oro-Iligan.

In an interview, DTI Regional Office 9 officer in-charge, Dr. Sitti Amina Jain beamed with unmistakable pride this latest recognition given to her agency. She said that DTI’s quality policy as an organization clearly underscores the core values of integrity, service orientation, professionalism, and conscientiousness in the delivery of its services to clients.

“These values are embedded in our quality management system (QMS) and inculcated in every meeting we have with the staff.” As an ISO-certified agency, we want these values imbibed into our system and into the hearts of everyone so that these will become the moral compass which will guide us as we relate with people in and out of DTI”, Dr. Jain said.

“It is our aspiration that we shall not be contented with being just “very good” but to aim for excellence in our services, and unassailable in our integrity,  individually and as an organization”, Dr. Jain concluded. — Lowel S. Vallecer
