An official of Nurben Engineering has clarified that their firm is a legitimate contractor  in good standing in Zamboanga City.

The clarification was issued after Nurben Engineering was mentioned in a recent published report as one of the 11 erring contractors issued with notice to terminate projects by the City Government.

Nurben Engineering is a sole proprietor firm owned by Haj. Engr. Benjamin Hamid and represented by Engr. Nonong Fernandez.

Fernandez said their firm is a legal contractor operating in the city and other parts of the country. He visited the different radio stations in this city to clarify the issue on the notice to terminate project.

He admitted that although their firm received a notice to terminate projects last June 7, 2013, it was withdrawn after  Nurben Engineering complied with some requirements.

“But we immediately complied and finished the construction of Shoreline Protection at Sitio Kubkub and construction of Shoreline protection in Sitio Dambilah all in Barangay Manalipa,” Fernandez said.

He said their firm already in receipt of the Letter of Acceptance on the said two projects worth P599,951.07 and 599,61.01, respectively, last November 23, 2013, from the City Government duly signed by Mayor Beng Climaco.

“I don’t know how our firm was included as one of the erring contractors this year or even the past years,” Fernandez said.

He said their firm is expecting other projects anytime next week for the construction of multi-purpose pavement and rehabilitation of school building in Barangay Manalipa as they wait for the signature of the mayor.

“We want to rectify the issue that Nurben Engineering is in good standing and legitimate contractor in the city,” Fernandez said. — MLF
