A suspected female swindler was arrested in a police entrapment operation Monday morning after victimizing teachers of the Ayala National High School by identifying herself as the daughter of Ayala Barangay Chairman Diosterides Librero and soliciting money from them supposedly for the latter’s hospital bills.

Librero was seriously wounded in a grenade attack before the barangay election on November last year.

Nabbed was Erlyn Sangadan y Jacinto, 34, married, of Sta. Maria. She underwent interrogation preparatory to the filing of charges against her in court.

A police report disclosed that several teachers of the Ayala National High School received text messages last Thursday from Sangadan introducing herself as Arline, the daughter of Librero. She was asking from them  P2,000 to P5,000 saying that it will be used for the hospital bills of the barangay chairman.

Mrs. Glenda Gregorio Tan, a high school teacher, gave P1,000 to Sangadan who personally went to her house to get it.

However before leaving Tan’s house, Sangadan stole the latter’s cell phone which  prompted the teacher to suspect she was bogus and swindler.

Sangadan continued sending other teachers of the school. Finally she contacted Edsel Francisco, the school principal, and continued her modus operandi.

Francisco and other teachers discovered that she was bogus but they just pretended to be innocent.

Around 10 a.m., Monday,  the school teachers and men of the Ayala police station conducted an entrapment operation that resulted in Sangadan’s arrest.

Recovered from her possession was P200 marked money. —  Dan Toribio Jr.
