ISABELA CITY, Basilan — Mayor Cherrylin Santos-Akbar yesterday condemned “the killing and murder” of the city auditor as he called for justice on the death of the official.

Isabela City Auditor Ester Galaroza, 54, was shot and killed by one of two men riding tandem in a motorcycle around 6:30 p.m. Thursday in front of Sta. Cruz Market, Zamboanga City.

Her officemate, Renella Abella, 52, escaped unscathed. They were on the way home when shot by gunmen riding tandem on a motorcycle.

“We are saddened by the untimely death of our city auditor and our deepest sympathy to the bereaved family,” Akbar said upon learning of the incident.

“Personally and as the city mayor of Isabela City, I condemn the killing and murder of the auditor and of anyone as a heinous act and crime,” Akbar added.

Akbar said they will fully support and “will cooperate in any investigation by the authorities.”

She appealed to the police in Zamboanga City to thoroughly investigate the incident to give justice to the Galaroza family. — Richard Falcatan
