5-day seminar for constructors set Feb. 17-21 PDF Print E-mail

In an effort to streamline further the construction industry and meet needed government requirements for its operation, a five-day seminar will be held starting on February 17 to 21, MJ14 at Le Jardin of Marcian Garden Hotel on Gov. Camins Road, this city.

Held under the auspices of Los Contratistas dela Ciudad de Zamboanga and National Contractors Association of the Philippines or NACAP in coordination with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Construction Management Development Foundation or CMDF, the activity dubbed as Basic Occupational Safety and Health for Construction Safety Officers.”

Engr. Eduardo A. Catis, the seminar’s program committee chairman disclosed that resource speakers from the cities of Manila and Davao have been invited to the affair.

Catis said lectures, video presentation, write up and workshop as well as plenary sessions and actual site safety inspection will be done for the benefit of those in attendance.

Raymond C. Go, NACAP regional director and VP for Western Mindanao, said participants to this activity has been limited to 50 persons only and those interested may call tel. no. 990-2644 for reservation.

For his part, newly installed Los Contratistas President Ladislao S. Darunday urged members to include managers, owners of construction firms and Sustaining Technical Engineers (STE’s) to attend, since attendance to such activity is a requisite for any issuance of new or renewal of construction license by the Philippine Construction Accreditation Board or PCAB.

Among several topics to be tackled with corresponding video are: DOLE D.O. no.13, instruction to construction safety/basic safety terminologies, Fire safety, accident investigation, job hazard analysis, occupational health, evacuation safety and safety in confined space, Darunday added. — LE
