The city government through the Zamboanga City Rabies Control and Eradication Coordinating Council (ZCRCECC) will spearhead the observance of the Rabies Awareness Month in March in this city.

City Veterinarian Dr. Mario Arriola, who is the ZCRCECC executive officer, said Thursday that several activities have been lined up to highlight the Rabies Awareness Month.

Arriola said the observance will start with a launching program, which will be held March 5 at the Southcom Elementary School in Barangay Upper Calarian, west of this city.

Arriola said the launching will be preceded by a motorcade participated in by local government offices, national agencies, non-government organizations (NGOs) and other stakeholders from Pettit Barracks downtown to the Southcom Elementary School.

Arriola said this year’s Rabies Awareness Month is anchored on the theme “working together for a rabies-free Zamboanga City—Practice Responsible Pet Ownership.”
