The strong delegation of Zamboanga City placed 2nd in the recently concluded  ‘PRISAA Regional Games 2014’ held in the “City of Orchids,” Dipolog City, from February 12 to 16, 2014.

Zamboanga City grabbed a total of 152 medals with 54 gold, 64 silver and 34 bronze while Pagadian City emerged as the champion garnering a total of 143 medals with 58 gold, 57 silver and 28 bronze.

The 3rd place went to the lace with 12 gold, 5 silver and 15 bronze.year’s PRISAA regional games 2014.

The four events which the city delegation has no entries include football, softball, boxing and judo while the city’s athletic delegation for men and women grabbed a total of 18 gold; badminton, one gold (men); dance sports, 2 gold (m) and 2 gold (w); swimming, 8 gold (men), 2 gold (women); Taekwondo 3 gold (men) and 6 gold (women); and vocal solo with one gold (women) with a total of 54 gold for the second place in the over-all medal standing.

PRISAA Regional/National Executive Director Elbert “Bong” Atilano said the strong delegation of Zamboanga city excelled in combative and individual sports.

“We need the participation of all sectors be it in public and private so that our athletes will excel in all sports and athletic events,” Atilano said.

Atilano said next year’s PRISAA regional games will be held in Pagadian City while the winning athletic and sport events in the recently concluded PRISAA Regional games will participate in the ‘2014 National PRISAA Games,’ in Davao City from April 6 to 12, 2014. — Monch L. Follosco
