Almost all barangays in Zamboanga City are drug infested.

This, as seven more persons were arrested in two separate anti-illegal drug operations in Sta. Catalina and Sangali.

Men of the Central Police Station staged a buy-bust operation in Kasulutan Drive, Sta. Catalina around 3:45 p.m. Monday and arrested five men identified as Benjamin Gacayan y Sabiran, 30, married, Benjamin Marcos y Wadja, 41, Khadafy Wahid y Sailila, 41, Pahtie Abduhal y Malik, 38 and Edzel Kairan y Dahamban, 33.

Confiscated from their possession were  a medium size sachet of shabu and marked money.

The suspects were detained at the city police office while the seized sachet was forwarded to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for examination.

Around 2:30 p.m.,  operatives of the Sangali Police Station arrested Sofia Hamja y Manalo and Jaafar Ramal y Harulla and confiscated from them five sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia and P300 marked money.

The suspects were detained at the police station while the seized items were forwarded to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for examination.

Police have readied charges for violation of RA 9165 against the suspects.

The almost daily police anti-drug operations (buy-bust) and the arrests it bring indicate the gravity of the drug situation in Zamboanga City. Records of anti-drug operations showed that drug pushing and abuse are present in almost all barangays.
