The Department of Trade and Industry Zamboanga City Office (DTI-ZCO) reminds all licensed contractors and new applicants of the new requirements through Board Resolution No. 040 and Board Resolution 041, series of 2014 issued by the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB) on January 21, 2014.

Effective Contracting Fiscal year (CFY) 2014-2015, every contractor shall have at least one Sustaining Technical Employee (STE) who has undergone the 40-hour Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) Course for Site Safety Officers as a condition for license renewal or New License Application. Applicants without the required STE may be accepted until June 30, 2014 provided that they submit proof of their compliance before their license certificate can be released. The Board provided further that proprietors or Authorized Managing Officers who are at the same time STEs of their companies who have completed the COSH course are deemed compliant. The DTI encourages contractors to act on these new requirements before June 30 2014

The PCAB also requires all AAA Contractors to have a DOLE accredited Safety Practitioner in its employ starting CFY 2015-2016. Employment of a DOLE accredited Safety Practitioner will be a prerequisite to the filing of New Contractors license application, Renewal and Upgrading for Category AAA license, and application for any additional classification of a Category AAA contractor.
