Young Zamboangueños will have the opportunity to take a trip down memory lane as the City Tourism Office will launch its newest educational activity showcasing local history and leaders on Monday, February 24.

Dubbed the Documentary of Zamboanga City Mayors, the activity will feature a presentation on the history of Zamboanga City and the profiles of the City’s leaders who have held the post of alcalde for the past 77 years, with the intention of giving students knowledge about the City’s past and heritage.

A total of 690 students form 22 elementary, secondary and tertiary schools will participate in the maiden opening of the documentary on Monday, which will be held at the Centro Latino in three separate batches from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

The Documentary of Zamboanga City Mayors is part of the line-up of activities set for the 77th Dia De Zamboanga, a celebration which commemorates the day when the first set of City officials headed by Mayor Nicasio Valderoza was installed into office.

This year’s Dia de Zamboanga will banner the theme of Build Back Better.

Other activities include: the 8th Zamboanga Food Festival from Feb. 21-22, 6pm onward at the Plaza del Pilar; 1st Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar Bowling Cup at the Tebi and Sean Recreational Center on Feb. 21-23; 2nd Zamboanga International Film Festival from Feb. 28 to March 2 9am to 4pm at the Cinematech, FDCP Building at Legionaire Road, Zone IV; Cheer Dance Competition on Feb. 24 at 1pm at the Vitaliano Agan Coliseum in Tetuan; Drum and Lyre Competition (High School Level) on Feb. 25 at 2pm at the Paseo del Mar,  Achievers’ Night on Feb. 25 at 7pm at Paseo del Mar; Civic-military parade at 3pm, commemorative program at 4pm  and Dia de Zamboanga Peace Concert at 6pm—all  on Feb. 26 at 6pm. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
