Basilan bowlers win Zambo City bowling tourney PDF Print E-mail

The Zamboanga Bowlers Association (ZAMBA), concluded its three-day open invitational triple-man/ladies bowling tournament last Sunday, with Isabela City’s Black Stallion, bagging the men’s championship title.

Dubbed, “Copa de Ciudad, Dia de Zamboanga” open invitational triple-man/ladies bowling tournament, said tourney kicked off last Friday evening, with then City Caretaker, Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde, as speaker and inducting officer for ZAMBA’s newly-elected 2014-2016 officers.

ZAMBA President Mervin Delatado, said that Basilan’s Black Stallion, only formed part of the 30 participating teams on men’s division, and 12 other women’s teams, which some have gone from as far as Jolo, Sulu, and Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte, provinces.

“These men and women teams engaged with their respective counterparts within two and a half-day hostilities, which ended Sunday afternoon at the Tebi and Sean Recreational Center, along Governor Camins Avenue”, he said.

Delatado said, next to Black Stallion, was RN-ZAMBA as first runner-up, MRN-ZAMBA as second runner-up, and OTRAVEZ L.A.W., as 3rd runner-up.

In the women’s division, Ladies’ RN-ZAMBA was adjudged champion, while Red Dragon B, Red Dragon A, and OTRAVEZ LMC, were 1st, 2nd, and 3rd runners-up, respectively.

Delatado said, both men and ladies’ champ groups similarly received P10,000 cash and a trophy, while both divisions 1st, 2nd, and 3rd runners-up, were awarded P7,000, P5,000, and P3,000 and trophies, respectively.

“The cash prizes were sponsored by the City Government of Zamboanga, while ZAMBA took charge of trophies and other individual awards”, Delatado added.

The ZAMBA president had expressed his heartfelt thanks to Mayor Beng Climaco, “because Mayor Beng, had responded positively, and without reservations to our request to sponsor and include this event, in the calendar of activities for ‘Dia de Zamboanga’ festivities”.

Delatado had also thanked his ZAMBA officers, who planned with him all the way, and successfully, executed such recently-concluded activity.

Other ZAMBA officers who assisted Delatado all throughout the games, were Vice President-Efigenio ‘Jung-jung’ Aquino, Secretary-Mitch Saile, Treasurer- JT Ilustrisimo, Auditor-Danny Macansantos, this writer as PIO, and Board of Trustees Mila Wong-Yat, George Adion, Boy Magsino, Luis Velario, Abs Punto, Sonny Anuddin, Jaime Stevens, Noel Natividad, and Broadcaster LLer Enriquez, who served as emcee during the opening program last Friday night.  — Philip Abuy
